The company has delivered 79 GW of power plant capacity and more than 130 energy storage installations in 180 countries. Wärtsilä is recruiting a Director Operations for the Africa Energy AFEU Area. The role is responsible for Agreement Management operations, maximizing value through service upselling to agreement customers, and developing Field Services operations within company premises. The director ensures customer pain points are identified and addressed throughout the region and is responsible for operations strategy, competence management and retention of key talents. Reporting to the Director Energy Business Africa, the position may be based in Africa, France or Finland. Responsibilities include strategic planning and execution for Agreement Management and Field Service Operations in Africa, developing services with central Energy Services teams, improving tools and operational processes, monitoring financial, operative and technical performance of contracts and Field Service activities, ensuring customer satisfaction and contract renewals, developing local leadership in Africa, improving workforce utilization while maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. The ideal candidate should possess a long-term strategic vision, strong collaboration skills, consistent implementation capabilities for new tools and methods, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage key customer relationships and represent the business in critical negotiations.
