Mechanical senior supervisor

Reporting to the maintenance superintendent, the mechanical senior supervisor is primarily responsible for surface engineering and maintenance programs of the site to optimize the safety and performance of all mobile equipment to achieve operational and production goals while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The role includes leading, developing and mentoring a team of mechanical maintenance personnel to complete work safely and efficiently, ensuring maintenance activities comply with safety procedures, identifying and organizing required resources, executing maintenance plans, managing unscheduled maintenance, and preparing and monitoring maintenance budgets. The incumbent will also work on budget planning, cost control, and financial reporting, ensuring expenditures remain within approved budgets. The role requires promoting internal methodologies, maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements, and identifying improvement opportunities. The supervisor will develop staff through recruitment criteria, training, coaching, performance evaluation, and career development initiatives while ensuring effective communication across teams. In addition, the role involves demonstrating strong commitment to safety, ensuring all team members are fit for work, enforcing safety procedures, managing hazards, and maintaining reporting standards. The candidate must have a minimum diploma or equivalent in mechanical field, at least 10 years of experience including supervisory roles and 5 years in the mining sector, with strong skills in team management, communication, training, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
